
Look, it's Tuesday. You don't need to run out and get the bread and milk. And it may turn out to be nothing, but Mother Nature could be planning a cruel trick for the first day of spring on Sunday, March 20.
Here's the current Long Island forecast for Sunday into Monday from weather.com: "Rain and snow turning to all snow late....Chance of precipitation 90 percent. Snow accumulating 5 to 8 inches."
Yes, you read that correctly, 5 to 8 inches. But if you would rather not see any more snow until next December (at the earliest), take solace in knowing that the National Weather Service currently says there's a chance of rain and snow Sunday night and Monday, but it is not predicting any snow accumulations at this point.

There is a great deal of uncertainty about the storm that will track northward along the Atlantic Seaboard during Sunday and Monday, according to AccuWeather Chief Meteorologist Elliot Abrams.

"This far out there are many variables that could affect the track of the storm, which has not formed yet, so it is too early to call one way or another," Abrams said.
Here's the (more certain) 3-day forecast:
Wednesday- A slight chance of showers after 3pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 56. Calm wind becoming south around 6 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
Wednesday Night- Showers likely, mainly before midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 43. Southeast wind 3 to 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
Thursday- A chance of showers, mainly after 3pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 53. Light and variable wind becoming southwest 6 to 11 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
Thursday Night- A chance of showers, mainly before midnight. Cloudy, with a low around 38. West wind 5 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
Friday- A chance of showers. Cloudy, with a high near 50. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
