Spelling Bee Champions Crowned At Smithtown Middle Schools
The school finalists advanced from competitions in individual English classes across all grades. Congratulations to the winners!
SMITHTOWN, NY — The best spellers in Smithtown middle schools have been crowned, the school district announced.
After 19 rounds inside the library at Accompsett Middle School on Tuesday, sixth-grader Jordan Rosenzweig proved victorious, with seventh-grader Sameha Vundecode as the runner-up.
Rosenzweig correctly spelled “Quasimodo” and then “Wiesbaden” to earn the school’s spelling title. Both students potentially advance to the Long Island regional round of the Scripps Spelling Bee.
Nesaquake Middle School had winner Monica Rocco and runner-up Virutsha Anandprakash.

Jacob Bergman was the winner at Great Hollow Middle School, while Landon Silva was the runner-up.
