Suffolk County Man Drove Drunk With 2 Kids in Car Upstate: Police
The 41-year-old faces a felony DWI charge following arrest Tuesday night, police say.
A 41-year-old St. James man is accused of driving drunk with two children in his car upstate Tuesday night, State Police said Friday.
State Police stopped a vehicle on I-87 for multiple traffic violations in the town of Tuxedo at about 10 p.m., police said.
The driver of the vehicle, Mauricio Chalpeno, was found to be intoxicated while traveling with two children, police sad.

Chalpeno was taken into custody, transported, and processed at SP Monroe, where his blood alcohol content was determined to be 0.13 percent, police said. The legal limit is 0.08 percent.
Chalpeno was charged with DWI with a child in the vehicle, a felony under Leandra's Law, as well as numerous vehicle and traffic violations. He was arraigned before the Town of Tuxedo Court and remanded to the Orange County Jail in lieu of $1,000 cash bail or $3,000 bond.

The children were turned over to a responsible party, police said.
