Strong Island Roller Derby Set For Season Opener In St. James

ST. JAMES, NY — The Strong Island Derby Revolution is preparing for its season opener, as the roller derby team is set to take on the Central Jersey Roller Vixens at 8 p.m. April 2 in St. James.

The doors of the Sports Arena, at 620 Middle Country Road, are set to open an hour before the first whistle.

Strong Island Revolution tickets can be purchased here. Tickets start at $15 in advance or $20 at the door. Children under 8 can get in for free.

Eventgoers can either bring a chair and sit trackside or head to the bleachers for an eagle-eye view of the action. There will be local vendors, a halftime wheel toss, raffles, and a concession with food and drinks, including beer.

"We can’t wait to see you all there," the team wrote in a statement. "Don’t forget to grab your tickets in advance as this game is sure to sell out!"

Strong Island Derby Revolution has four games on the schedule:

• Home vs. Central Jersey Roller Vixens on April 2.
• Away vs. TBD on June 4.
• Away vs. TBD on Sept. 17.
• Home vs. Hartford Area Roller Derby on Oct. 22.
