Suffolk County Legis. Leslie Kennedy Hospitalized

The 61-year-old has been "overworking" herself, a spokesperson from her office said.

A Suffolk County legislator was hospitalized on Thursday evening, a spokesperson from her office confirmed.

Legis. Leslie Kennedy, a Republican from Nesconset, was sent to St. Catherine's Hospital in Smithtown at about 5:30 p.m. after she began to feel ill.

The spokesperson said that the 61-year-old has "burnt herself out" by working every day.

According to the spokesman, she had been "working 110 mph a day" and has been complaining about how many hours she has been working.

What probably put her "over the edge" was when she helped to clean a property across from the Suffolk County Police's Fourth Precinct and spent the hot day "removing bricks" and "overexerting" herself.

Kennedy has still been working and is being kept overnight for observation but is expected to make a full recovery.

She is the legislator for the 12th district which covers Smithtown, Nesconset, Hauppauge, the Village of the Branch, Lake Grove and parts of Commack, Islandia and Ronkonkoma.
