SMITHTOWN, NY — Smithtown elementary school students recently learned about bullying, according to the school district.

Officer Karl Allison from the Suffolk County Police Department Community Relations Bureau visited Accompsett Elementary School on Monday. He made a presentation on how students can identify bullying and how to react to it.

"It is important that we give our students the tools they need to safely navigate challenging situations that they may encounter later on in life," Timothy Hellmuth, principal of Accompsett Elementary School, told Patch.
