Two Brush Fires Break Out Within Town Of Smithtown
Both fires occurred within the past week.
Two brush fires broke out within the Town of Smithtown over the past week.
The first fire occurred at about 5:34 p.m. at 3 River Heights Court in Smithtown and spread through the heavily wooded ground cover of the property.
Arriving units were able to get the fire quickly under control. The fire was extinguished within half an hour and all units returned to quarters at 6:13 p.m.

It is unknown what caused the fire. No injuries were reported.
The second fire broke out on Monday afternoon just a few miles away in Hauppauge.

At about 3:30 p.m., the Hauppauge Fire Department responded to the brush fire to the back of 70 Suffolk Court in the industrial.
Within minutes, responding units discovered a large brush fire rapidly spreading and started putting out the fire from 70 Suffolk Court and 150 Marcus Boulevard.
Firefighters quickly extinguish fire without incident. There were no reported injuries.
It is unknown if the fires are related.
