Uber Celebrates 1 Year On Long Island

LONG ISLAND, NY - Uber recently celebrated its one year anniversary since it began offering the service on Long Island.

The popular ride-sharing service was officially made available to local residents on June 29, 2017.

In honor of the anniversary, the company released some statistics from the past year.

According to Uber, the top 10 Long Island drop-off destinations are:

  1. Roosevelt Field
  2. Mineola Train Station
  3. Ronkonkoma Train Station
  4. Rockville Centre
  5. Nassau Community College
  6. Great Neck Plaza
  7. Westfield South Shore
  8. Hicksville Train Station
  9. Central Islip Train Station
  10. Huntington Train Station

So far, no one has beaten the record of the furthest trip in an Uber from 6 months ago from Roslyn to Hubbard, Ohio for a total of 506 miles.

The average driver rating for Long Island drivers is a 4.8 with Friday and Saturday evenings and morning/evening commute hours on weekdays being as the busiest time

There were also riders from 134 different countries including the U.S. using Uber on Long Island.

"Tens of thousands of Uber drivers have been able to earn on their own schedules while helping hundreds of thousands of Uber riders move around their communities safely with ease," Danielle Filson, an Uber spokesperson said. "Thank you Long Island and to all who have been on this journey with us this year - we look forward to many more."
