2 New Luxury Car Thefts Reported In Hamptons: Police
The two new thefts follow a string of such incidents in recent weeks, police say.

SOUTHAMPTON, NY — Two new stolen luxury vehicles have been reported, the latest in a a string of such incidents in Southampton, police said.
Southampton Town Police said detectives have been conducting an investigation into high-end luxury vehicle thefts — over the past few months, residents from Sagaponack to Tuckahoe have reported their vehicles stolen in the overnight hours.

second, a 2019 BMW, was taken from a residence on Jacobs Way in Sagaponack, police said.
In both instances, the keys were left in the vehicles, police said.

Police said in July they were investigating a rash of luxury vehicle thefts in the Hamptons.
According to Southampton town police, the thefts of high-end vehicles have taken place from Sagaponack to Tuckahoe, with residents reporting that their vehicles, mostly Mercedes and Range Rovers, were stolen overnight. In July, police said 12 vehicles had been reported stolen in the area since January.
Southampton town police asked residents to take extra precautions when leaving vehicles parked, especially during overnight hours, and offered tips:
- Lock all doors and set alarms on vehicles.
- Park vehicle near motion detectors and/or video surveillance.
- Park vehicle in locked garage, if possible.
- Remove all key fobs, including any hidden keys.
- Remove all valuables from sight.
- Make sure you have all passwords available for OnStar.
- Call police immediately if you find your vehicle missing.
