2018 Election Preview: New York's 1st Assembly District

LONG ISLAND, NY — The 2018 midterm elections take place on Tuesday and New York voters have several important decisions to make.

Long Island residents will get a chance to vote for the representative of New York's First Assembly District this Election Day.

Here's what you need to know before heading out to the polls this November:

Election Day: Tuesday, Nov. 6

Polling Times: Polls will open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Candidates: Incumbent Fred Thiele (I) will be challenged by Patrick O'Connor (R,C).

District: The First Assembly District of New York includes East Hampton, Shelter Island, Southampton and portions of Brookhaven in Suffolk County.
