4 DWI Arrests Over 4 Day Span In Southampton: NYS Police

BREAKING: Four individuals were charged with driving while intoxicated over a four day span across Southampton Town, police said.

SOUTHAMPTON, NY — New York State Police arrested four individuals and charged them with driving drunk over a four day span in locations across Southampton Town, police said.

According to New York State Police, those arrested were:

- Stephen G. Orosz, 31, of Hampton Bays was arrested on March 21 and charged with driving while intoxicated following a traffic stop for moving from lane unsafely and dazzling headlights while heading westbound on Montauk Highway in the Town of Southampton, police said. Orosz was transported back to New York State Police barracks in Riverside where he refused to submit to a chemical breath test, police said. Orosz was held for arraignment at Southampton Justice Court, police said.

- William R. Stewart, 77, of Hampton Bays was arrested on March 22 and charged with driving while intoxicated following a traffic stop for driving with an inadequate headlight while heading northbound on Wakeman Road in Hampton Bays in the Town of Southampton, police said. Stewart was transported back to New York State Police Barracks in Riverside and processed without incident, police said. Stewart is scheduled to appear back in Southampton Justice Court, police said.

- Matthew Rewinski, 32, of Hampton Bays was arrested on March 23 and charged with driving while intoxicated following a traffic stop for multiple traffic infractions while traveling northbound on Route 24 in the Town of Southampton, police said. Rewinski was transported back to New York State Police barracks in Riverside and processed without incident; he is due back in Southampton Justice Court, police said.

- Matthew J. Vanhoy, 23, of East Quogue was arrested on March 25 and charged with driving while intoxicated following a traffic stop on Montauk Highway in Southampton, police said. Vanhoy was transported to New York State Police barracks in Riverside and processed without incident; he is due back in Southampton Justice Court, police said.
