All Southampton Town Facilities Closed Monday
Southampton Town crews have been out "in full force" to maintain roads and safety, officials say.

SOUTHAMPTON, NY — All Southampton Town facilities are closed on Monday, officials said.
On Sunday, the town's highway department, parks maintenance and municipal works crews were "currently out in full force actively trying to stay on top of the rapidly falling snow in the face of deteriorating weather conditions," town officials said.
The high rates of snowfall, coupled with windy conditions, were presenting challenges to crews, officials said.

With up to a foot of snow on the East End Sunday, followed by sleet and freezing rain that led to ice, roads were treacherous Monday morning, officials said.
"In order to give our hard-working highway department, parks maintenance and municipal works crews an opportunity to catch up, and keep up, with the high rate of snowfall, as well as to ensure that our facilities are safe for public access, we have decided to close all town facilities on Monday, January 26," Southampton Town Supervisor Maria Moore said. "The town continues to monitor the situation and is working hard to maintain public safety during this winter storm."
