Bay Constables Rescue Boaters In Severe Thunderstorm, Lightning
It was a dramatic rescue in the Atlantic Ocean as bay constables braved a fierce thunderstorm to bring 2 boaters to safety, police say.

SOUTHAMPTON, NY — Brave bay constables heroically saved two young adults from the ocean during a fierce thunderstorm Saturday, police said.
According to Southampton Town Police, on Saturday at 7 p.m., a call came in about three people who were on a disabled personal watercraft three quarters of a mile offshore in the Atlantic Ocean east of Shinnecock County Park.
Southampton Town Bay Constable Richard Franks and Alfred Greenwald raced to the scene in a marine patrol vessel and Bay Constable Nicholas Dibari headed in a patrol vehicle to the county park, police said.

Weather conditions were deteriorating with severe thunderstorms, ground lightning, and heavy rain, police said.
Kelsey Adams, 24, of Coram and David Highland, 24, of Hopedale, MA, were located and taken aboard the bay constable's boat; Sean Conley, 25, of Wakefield, RI, swam back to shore and was safe, police said.

Sea Tow towed the two personal watercraft back to shore, police said.
