Bicyclist Injured In Flanders Crash: Police

He was airlifted for treatment of his injuries, police say.

FLANDERS, NY — A bicyclist was injured in a Flanders crash Sunday afternoon, police said.

According to Southampton Town Police, the crash took place at 2:13 p.m. Charles Bloxon, 66, of Riverhead, was driving a 2020 Ford pickup west when the bicyclist, 49, from Flanders, who was heading north on Flanders Road, crossed into the intersection of Rt. 105 and was struck by the pickup, police said.

The bicyclist was taken by Suffolk County aviation to Stony Brook University Hospital to receive treatment for his injuries, police said.

No charges were filed in the crash, police said.

Southampton Town Police patrol units responded to the crash, where Suffolk County Sheriffs were already on scene tending to the injured man, police said. The Flanders Fire Department, Flanders-Northampton Volunteer Ambulance Corps and Southampton Town Police detectives also responded; the investigation is ongoing, police said.
