SOUTHAMPTON, NY — Southampton Town Police are teaming up with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Long Island to make a difference in children's lives.
STPD and BBBSLI are partnering to present the "Bigs in Blue" mentoring program.
"Bigs in Blue is a one-to-one mentoring program that connects youth with police in their communities to build stronger bonds between law enforcement and the families they serve and to make a positive difference in the lives of children," both organizations said.

It's the first time Southampton Town Police have participated in the program, which pairs officers with at-risk youth. “Bigs in Blue” will match active officers with students for one-on-one mentoring. The "bigs” will meet with their “littles” two times a month to help with schoolwork, discuss concerns and work on goals — creating lasting bonds.
The initiative is aimed at fostering positive relationships between youth and law enforcement, police said.
