Big-Hearted Business Donates $50K For New Children's Playground

The new playground will be built at Good Ground Park in Hampton Bays.

SOUTHAMPTON, NY — A local business opened its hearts to the kids of the community this week, donating funds to be used for a new playground.

Douglas Elliman, as part of its ongoing mission to support local community initiatives, gifted Southampton Town a total of $50,000. The donation, presented at Tuesday's town board meeting, will help build the new playground at Good Ground Park in Hampton Bays.

Carl Benincasa, regional vice president of sales for the Hamptons, presented the check to Southampton Town Supervisor Jay Schneiderman.

"Douglas Elliman has generously agreed to donate to Good Ground Park $50,000 so that the park can have a second playground constructed," Schneiderman said. "On behalf of the town, we are very grateful. We really appreciate the partnership with Douglas Elliman. With you guys stepping forward — it's going in now because of Douglas Elliman and this very, very generous donation."

Benincasa, a Southampton native and former attorney for the town, says that he's glad that Douglas Elliman supports community enrichment.

"We are thrilled to be able to contribute and to focus on helping the people of this community," he says. "We hope that this playground will be used and enjoyed by families for years to come."

The recreation area for children, which is expected to be open by early summer 2018, will be located adjacent to the amphitheater in the park and will be open for public use. A groundbreaking ceremony is slated to be held soon.
