Bites Nearby: Have a Romantic Dinner at Red|Bar Brasserie

Get to this Southampton Village restaurant restaurant before the summer rush for a prix fixe dinner.

You could stand on a corner and look around until a restaurant sign draws you in. But we've got a better idea. Each week, Southampton Patch picks a great restaurant either in town or nearby that is worth checking out. Here's this week's choice:

— In the village of Southampton, Red|Bar Brasserie serves European-inspired American cuisine in a romantic setting. Executive Chef Erik Nodeland, a Culinary Institute of America graduate, has been with the restaurant since it opened 13 years ago. Red|Bar has a pages-long list of domestic wines and international wines that patrons would be hard pressed to find at other local restaurants. For the winter, a prix-fixe menu is offered Sunday, Wednesday and Thursday all night and until 6:30 p.m. on Fridays, excluding holidays and holiday weekends. Red|Bar's must-have signature dessert is a baked Alaska, flambéd at the table, for $11.

210 Hampton Rd, Southampton. Open Wednesday through Sunday for dinner. Prices: About $25 to $42 for entrees. 631-283-0704.
