Boaters, Dog Rescued After Being Stranded In High Winds, Plunging Temps
BREAKING: The men and their dog were out on the water with 45 mile per hour wind gusts and temperatures in the 20s, police said.

SOUTHAMPTON, NY — Two men and their dog were rescued after being stranded out on the water with high winds and plunging temperatures, police said.
According to Southampton Town Police, on Monday, Southampton bay constables received a call from Sea Tow, Shinnecock regarding a vessel aground near Fish Cove in Moriches Bay, police said. Coast Guard Station Shinnecock/Moriches were called, as was Sector Long Island Sound, located in New London, Connecticut.
Two boaters, James Launon, 24, of Manorville and Noah Gorman, 24, of Calverton, called 911 and spoke to Sergeant Lewis Scott, who was able to pinpoint their location and remain on the telephone until members of the Eastport Fire Department were able to walk them to shore, police said.

The two men and their dog had been on the water in high winds where gusts were up to 45 miles an hour and temperatures were in the 20s, police said.
Once on land, the boaters were checked by members of the Westhampton War Memorial Ambulance to ensure they didn’t suffer hypothermia or frostbite, police said. Emergency responders on scene included Southampton bay constables, Eastport Fire Department, Westhampton Fire Department, Westhampton Ambulance, East Moriches Fire Department and Center Moriches Fire Department.

The boat, as of Tuesday morning, had washed up on the Bay Side of Pike's Beach and Southampton bay constables responded to secure the vessel and notify the owner of its location, police said.
