BRIDGEHAMPTON, NY — A Bridgehampton teacher was lauded recently for her leadership, dedication, advocacy — and mission of empowerment.

Hamra Ozsu, along with 17 others, was honored as the Suffolk County Legislative District 2's Champion of Diversity at the April 4 general meeting of the legislature.

Ozsu is the PBIS and assembly coordinator, spearheading a monthly assembly program that highlights student achievement and showcases programs that highlight traditions from across the globe, the district said.

“Our school community is honored to have Ms. Ozsu as a leader in her deep understanding and appreciation for others,” Superintendent of School Dr. Mary T. Kelly said. “Her positive influence and guidance are reflective in the numerous roles she takes on to fully empower not only our students, but their families in turn.”
