SAGAPONACK, NY — A brush fire broke out in Sagaponack Wednesday, officials said.
According to the Southampton Town Police Department, the Bridgehampton Fire Department and police responded to Northwest Path in Sagaponack after a report of a brush fire in the wooded area near a residence.
The fire damaged a large portion of the wooded area but was extinguished before it could spread to surrounding residences, police said.

There were no injuries or property damage reported, police said.
Southampton Town fire marshals were at the scene investigating the cause of the fire, which is yet unknown, police said.
