Burglar Caught In The Act At North Sea Home: Cops
There was damage to nearly every exterior window as well as significant damage inside the unoccupied home, police say.

NORTH SEA, NY — A man burglarizing a North Sea home was caught in the act, police said.
According to Southampton Town Police, on Friday at 9:10 p.m., a call came in regarding vandalism in progress at a home in the North Sea Beach Colony; officers arrived and found a residence with damage to nearly every exterior window as well as significant damage inside the unoccupied dwelling, police said.
As officers were conducting an investigation investigation, they found Edin G. Vargas, 19, of Riverhead in a neighboring house, police said.

A response team, including members of the Southampton Town Police Department’s patrol division and also included the Southampton Village Police Department’s canine officer, checked the adjacent residence and interrupted a burglary in progress, police said.
Vargas physically resisted arrest, but officers were able to take him into custody without further incident, police said.

Vargas was charged with two counts of second degree burglary, felonies, one count of
second degree criminal mischief, a felony, and resisting arrest, a misdemeanor, police said.
He was transported to police headquarters where he was processed and held for arraignment, police said.
