Share the Harvest Farm invites the community to celebrate the start of the season at its Spring Market on Saturday, May 2nd at St. Luke’s Church in East Hampton.
This lively, community-centered event will feature 20 local vendors offering artisan goods, prepared foods, and handmade items. Guests will enjoy live music by Reilly Rose, a curated raffle featuring local experiences and products, and a welcoming space to gather and connect.
Adding to the experience, guests will be able to enjoy “Spring in a Bottle” from Wölffer Estate, served by EAST + PALM to sip while they browse.
The Spring Market serves as an important fundraiser for Share the Harvest Farm, with participating vendors donating 20% of their proceeds to support the farm’s spring start-up costs. These funds help power the farm’s mission of growing and donating fresh, organically grown produce to families across the East End, often within hours of harvest.

Southampton History Museum

When people think of the American Revolution, they often picture famous land battles like Lexington &amp; Concord, Saratoga, and Yorktown, but much of the war was also fought at sea. From the coasts of England and Nova Scotia to Maine and the Caribbean, the Atlantic Ocean was a vital and contested battleground.

In Yankee Doodle Goes to Sea, historian and musician Stephen Sanfilippo brings this maritime history to life through authentic songs from the era. Selections include “The Hancock,” recounting America’s first naval victory on the high seas; “The Yankee Privateer,” telling of bold captures of British merchant ships; “The Brave Town of Machias,” celebrating a Maine community’s resistance to British forces; and “The Ballad of General Woodhull,” a lyrical take on the Battle of Brooklyn.

A U.S. Navy veteran, Sanfilippo has been researching and performing historic maritime music since the 1970s. He accompanies his vocals with instruments such as guitar and mandola, often inviting audiences to join in the singing. He has performed widely at historic and cultural venues from Long Island to Maritime Canada.

Sanfilippo holds a Ph.D. in History from Stony Brook University and is a retired Assistant Professor of Maritime History at Maine Maritime Academy, where he taught through the lens of traditional sea songs. A co-founder of the Long Island Traditional Music Association, he continues to explore and share the rich musical traditions of coastal communities. He and his wife Susan divide their time between Long Island’s North Fork and Downeast Maine.

One More Time: Audience Demand Brings Southampton Arts Center’s ‘Dear Jack, Dear Louise,’ A WWII Love Story, Back For Two Encore Performances SOUTHAMPTON, NY —&nbsp;After winning hearts and garnering full houses in February, the Long Island debut of Ken Ludwig’s “Dear Jack, Dear Louise,” is back by popular demand for two special encore performances at the Southampton Arts Center. Directed by the iconic Michael Disher and starring Barbara Jo Howard and Jack Seabury, the two additional encore performances take place on Saturday, May 2, and Sunday, May 3 at 2 p.m. at the Southampton Arts Center. According to a description of “Dear Jack, Dear Louise”: “When two strangers meet by letter during World War II, a love story begins. U.S. Army Captain Jack Ludwig, a military doctor stationed in Oregon, begins writing to Louise Rabiner, an aspiring actress and dancer in New York City, hoping to meet her someday if the war will allow. But as the war continues, it threatens to end their relationship — before it even starts. Two-time Olivier Award-winning playwright Ken Ludwig tells the poignant story of his own parents’ unlikely courtship during World War.”&nbsp; The show is described as “storytelling at its best” by the Chicago Theatre Review. &nbsp; Disher, a treasured force on the East End’s theatrical canvas, explains why he chose the offering. “I have always been a fan of Ken Ludwig’s comedies, but this one seemed a bit more personal. It’s also a World War II love story, which always appeals to me. Plus, I like providing our Center Stage patrons and the Southampton Arts Center with interesting new works, and maybe some that have been forgotten.” Disher said the idea of presenting the show as another Long Island premiere was one he embraced — and the show was made even more heartfelt by his appeal to residents to send in their own wartime photos and letters — creating an unforgettable montage that pays tribute to timeless love and enduring passion. Each letter, he said, captured a fierce love story forever in time. “Remember when people used to write letters?” he asked. “I still believe people love to receive a handwritten note, and in this case, the entire play is the letters between Jack Ludwig and Louise Rabiner.” The show is a sweet homage to the power of eternal love, Disher noted. “It is a joyful piece, full of Ludwig’s wit and warmth.” Center Stage at Southampton Arts Center is located at 25 Jobs Lane in Southampton. Author Bill Bleyer will present an informative lecture beginning with the country’s Revolutionary maritime history all the way through to the World Wars of the twentieth century. Bleyer will touch on events such as the first amphibious landing on Plum Island, the British blockade and wreck of HMS Culloden, and the Meigs and other whaleboat raids; submarine warfare and the wreck of the British 22-gun sloop-of-war Sylph during the War of 1812; Confederate raiders capturing Union shipping just offshore during the Civil War; the sinking of the only American capital warship in World War I off Fire Island; and U-boats dropping off spies and attacking commercial vessels during World War II.
