Exhibit opening reception: From Sea to Shining Sea: Whalers of the African Diaspora

Our new exhibit, opening July 25, “From Sea to Shining Sea; Whalers of the African Diaspora,” is a collaborative effort with the Eastville Community Historical Society that will explore and highlight the experiences, contributions, and impact African Americans had on the whaling industry.

A free opening reception will be held from 2- 3:30PM on July 25th here at the Whaling Museum. Dr. Georgette Grier-Key, Executive Director and Chief Curator of Eastville Community Historical Society, will deliver remarks on the significance of the exhibit.

Be sure to also join us afterwards at Eastville’s 41st Annual Fish Fry at the historic David AME Zion Church from 4-7PM. Get your tickets early, as this event is sure to sell out fast!
