Caretaker Charged In Southampton Burglary: Police
BREAKING: The man was found crouching in the bushes by a woman renting the Southampton home, police say.

SOUTHAMPTON, NY — A Southampton caretaker was charged with burglary, police said.
According to Southampton Town Police, on Saturday, July 2, a 911 call came in at 10:40 p.m. from a home in Shinnecock Hills regarding a burglary in progress.
The female victim returned to her rental home and reported that she heard noises coming from inside the home and went to investigate, police said.

She went outside and saw a man crouching in the bushes, then ran back inside to contact authorities, police said.
Southampton Town patrol officers, Southampton Town detectives, and a New York State Police K9 unit responded to the home to search for man, who the victim recognized as the caretaker, police said.

Southampton Town detectives located David Griffin, 52, of Southampton, and charged him with second degree burglary, police said.
Griffin was held for morning arraignment at Southampton Town Justice Court, police said.
