Cat Missing After Flanders Rollover Crash: Police
The driver was not injured in the rollover crash but their black cat went running into the woods, police say.
FLANDERS, NY — A cat went missing after a crash in Flanders Saturday morning, police said.
According to Southampton Town police, the crash took place at 6:34 a.m. at the intersection of Spinney and Flanders Roads. A driver, headed north on Flanders Road, drifted to the right off the roadway, onto the grass and head-on into a tree, causing the vehicle to roll over into the northbound lane, police said.
The driver was found out of the vehicle, alert and conscious, when police arrived, authorities said. There were no signs of driver impairment, police said.

The driver had a black cat inside the vehicle, which was seen jumping out and running into the nearby woods, police said. Police have been unable to locate or recover the cat, they said.
The Flanders Fire Department and the Flanders-Northampton Volunteer Ambulance Corps responded to the scene; Flanders EMS transported the driver to the community center, police said. The driver was then airlifted by Suffolk County Police aviation to Stony Brook University Hospital for further medical evaluation, police said.

The vehicle was towed from the scene.
