Community Comes Together To Help Woman Wage Cancer War

WATER MILL, NY — A team of angels is coming together to help their friend in her war against cancer.

A GoFundMe page, "#NiceTryCancer- Batya Smith," was created by a team on behalf of Smith.

"This incredible mother, wife, daughter, sister, aunt and friend is battling what we all fear. Cancer is not only devastating to a family but extremely expensive," the page said.

The goal is to raise the funds necessary to wage a fierce war against the disease.

"Batya’s spirit and soul are strong enough to fight this fight," the page said. "Please help us make this painful struggle a little easier, so this amazing woman can focus on her children Dakota and Dyson, and not the financial strain and stress of overwhelming medical bills and not getting proper meds and treatment."

Life shouldn’t cost money, organizers said. "We will not let cancer win," they added.
