Drunk Driver Hits Car, Caught With Cocaine In Hamptons: Police
He veered off the roadway in his Lexus and hit a parked car, police say.

SOUTHAMPTON, NY — A Central Islip man was arrested after he drove drunk, crashed into a parked car and was caught with cocaine, police said.
According to Southampton Village Police, on June 1 at 4:40 a.m., Samuel Daniels, 68, was arrested and charged with two counts of fifth degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony, seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and driving while intoxicated, both misdemeanors, and unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation.
Officers saw Daniels driving a 1998 Lexus LS400 while traveling west on Hampton Road; when police activated its emergency lights to stop Daniels, he veered off the roadway striking a parked vehicle, police said.

Upon further investigation, police determined that Daniels was intoxicated; he was also found to be in possession of quantities of cocaine and marijuana, police said.
Daniels was transported to Stony Brook Southampton Hospital, treated for minor injuries and released to the custody of police, where he was processed and held for morning arraignment, police said.

At arraignment, he was remanded to the Suffolk County Correctional Facilities in Riverside in lieu of $20,000 cash bail, police said.
