East Hampton Woman Accused Of Using Former Employer's Credit Cards To Charge More Than $17K: Police

The charges were made to various online websites, police say.

SOUTHAMPTON, NY — An East Hampton woman was arrested after having been accused of using an ex-employer's business and personal credit cards to charge in excess of $17,000, police said.

According to Southampton Town police, on January 5, officers responded to a local business in Bridgehampton and spoke to the owner, who reported a former employee had used the cards to make unauthorized charges.

The charges started in July 2025 and were made to various online websites, police said.

After an extensive investigation by the Southampton Town Police Department's detective division, Madeleine Tavernier, 32, was arrested on Wednesday and charged with third-degree grand larceny, a felony, police said.

She was processed at Southampton Town police headquarters and brought for arraignment at Southampton Town Justice Court, where she was released for a future court date, police said.
