'Erratic' Driver Charged With DWI In Hamptons: Police
He was driving a pickup truck with an attached trailer on County Road 39 and ultimately hit a large traffic cone, police say.
BRIDGEHAMPTON, NY — A New Jersey man was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated in Bridgehampton Thursday, police said.
The incident took place at 11:58 p.m. when several calls came in about the driver of a pick-up truck with an attached trailer heading east on County Road 39 and driving in an "erratic manner," Southampton Town police said.
Eventually, a patrol officer located the vehicle on Bridgehampton-Sag Harbor Turnpike, near Montauk Highway in Bridgehampton, police said.

Neil J. Trimper, 52, struck and came to rest against a large traffic cone, police said. An nvestigation revealed that Trimper was operating the motor vehicle while intoxicated, police said.
Trimper was arrested and charged with aggravated DWI, a misdemeanor, as well as traffic infractions for which he was issued summonses, police said.

Trimper was processed at Southampton Town police headquarters and held for morning arraignment, police said.
