Home Lost In Massive Blaze Reportedly Belonged To Movie Producer

SOUTHAMPTON, NY — A home under construction was completely destroyed in a raging fire in Southampton Thursday night, officials said. According to reports, the home belonged to famed movie producer Oren Aviv.
The Southampton Fire Department's public information officer Chris Brenner told Patch that the call came in at 12:24 a.m. about a structure fire on Edge of Woods Road, where the house was "fully engulfed in flames."
The fire was under control in about 30 minutes; brush trucks handled spot fires in the woods due to falling and blowing embers and debris. The house, which appeared to be under construction, was a complete loss upon arrival, fire officials said.

According to NBC.com, Aviv was listed as the owner of the mansion; his IMDB page indicates that he is a producer and writer known for the "National Treasure" movies and"Hardcore Henry."

No injuries were reported, officials said.

The North Sea Fire Department was also called; mutual aid was requested from the Sag Harbor Fire Department. The Hampton Bays Fire Department was also called; a call for a second house on fire was unfounded, officials said.
Southampton Volunteer Ambulance was also at the scene; Southampton Village EMS provided standby for district calls, officials said. The East Quogue Fire Department covered the Southampton Fire Department, and the Bridgehampton Fire Department covered any calls for the North Sea Fire Department, officials said.
The Southampton Town fire marshal's office is investigating the cause of the blaze. Southampton Village Fire Department Chief Alfred Callahan was in charge of the scene. Callahan thanked all the departments that responded to help.
