Former Suffolk County Legislator Bridget Fleming Forges New Path

SUFFOLK COUNTY, NY — Former Suffolk County Legislator Bridget Fleming is forging a new path.

McBride Consulting has welcomed Fleming as vice president of their economic development and land-use practice, according to a release from the firm.

"Having been elected to county and town positions, Ms. Fleming has more than 20 years of government experience," Robert McBride, president and CEO of McBride Consulting, said. Fleming served four terms on the Suffolk County Legislature, representing the 2nd Legislative District, which includes the Towns of East Hampton, Southampton, Shelter Island, and parts of Brookhaven.

During her tenure she focused on environmental sustainability, supporting the clean energy industry, strengthening public infrastructure, including wastewater treatment and public transportation, and confronting Long Island’s deepening housing crisis, "which is being felt most acutely by the next generation and seniors throughout the region," Fleming said.

Fleming also served on the Southampton town board, where she focused on environmental protection, affordable housing, and waste management, among other quality of life issues important to town residents, she said.

She also served as a criminal prosecutor in the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office; is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Hunter College, and a graduate of the University of Virginia School of Law, where she received the Kramer Public Service Award and the Bracewell & Patterson Oral Advocacy Award.

She holds a certificate in mediation skills for professionals from John Jay College and is a recipient of the Long Island Oyster Growers Association’s Pearl of a Person Award, as well as Sustainable Long Island’s "Getting It Done "Award.

Fleming and her husband Bob have a son, Jai, a college student; the family lives in Sag Harbor.
