Gun Found At Riverside Home, Man Arrested: Police

He's facing felony charges, police say.

RIVERSIDE, NY — A man was arrested Saturday after a gun was found at a Riverside home a few months earlier, police said.

According to Southampton Town police, the gun was found at a home on Pebble Way in Riverside in October. A homeowner said he had found the gun on his property and knew who it belonged to, police said.

Police took possession of the gun and conducted an investigation, authorities said.

On Saturday, with the help of the Southampton Town Police Department's community response unit, the owner of the gun, Romel E. Richards, 21, who is from Riverside but it without a known address, was arrested and charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, both felonies, police said.

He was processed at Southampton Town police headquarters, held overnight for morning arraignment, and remanded to the Suffolk County Correctional Facility in lieu of $5,000 cash bail, police said.
