Hampton Hopper Shuttle to Beach to Launch Next Month
After two trial runs, the service for teens will officially launch in August.

Local teens will now have a ride to and from Sagg Main Beach starting next month.
After two trial runs, the Sag Harbor Youth Committee has stepped forward to cover the cost of running the Hampton Hopper between Sag Harbor Village and the beach once each week in August.
According to Benito Vila, a volunteer for Sag Harbor Speak Out and a member of the Pierson PTSA, there were enough middle school kids turning out for the trail runs done at the end of school year that both the Youth Committee and the Hopper wanted to keep the service going.

The runs will be on Wednesdays beginning in August.
The schedule has been changed so that there are pick-ups in the village at 10:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. and returns from the beach at 3 p.m. and 4 p.m.

Vila also said that the possibility of the service being more regularly available for 2016 is being considered, but it’s going to take some off-season planning and sponsorship modeling/selling.
“As it is, so far so good,” he wrote in an e-mail. “The kids of Sag Harbor asked for this shuttle and both public and private interests are making it happen.”
