Hazmat Team Responds To Chlorine Explosion In Hamptons: Police
The chlorine had gotten wet, and the lid was put back on the bucket, which will cause pressure and the bucket to explode, police say.

SOUTHAMPTON, NY — A hazmat team was called to clean up after the explosion of a bucket of chlorine tablets in Southampton Monday morning, police said.
Southampton Town police said they responded to a home on Ashwood Court at about 8:49 a.m. regarding what they called a "small" explosion of the 5-gallon bucket.
The Southampton Fire Department along with North Sea Fire Department and Southampton Town fire marshals and code enforcement responded.

The investigation is continuing, and a hazmat team was at the scene to clean up the area, police said.
