Intoxicated Driver In Hampton Bays Refuses To Stop: Police

She blew through a red light and refused to stop for police, authorities say.

HAMPTON BAYS, NY — A Hampton Bays woman was arrested after she was caught driving while intoxicated and refusing to stop for authorities, police said.

According to Southampton Town Police, Marie Garcia-Soto, 24, was arrested at 2:23 a.m. on Springville Road. Garcia-Soto was seen driving east on Montauk Highway at the intersection of Springville Road when she ran a red light, police said.

When officers tried to stop her, she refused to comply and continued driving south on Springville Road before finally coming to a stop, police said.

She was arrested, charged with misdemeanor DWI, aggravated DWI, a misdemeanor, failure to obey a police officer, failure to obey a traffic signal, and several other infractions, police said.

She was taken to police headquarters, processed, and held for morning arraignment, police said.
