Intoxicated Man Enters Wrong Hamptons Home, Refuses To Leave: Police
The incident took place in Bridgehampton Thursday night, police say.
SOUTHAMPTON, NY — An intoxicated Bridgehampton man was arrested after entering the wrong home and refusing to leave, police said.
According to Southampton Town police, the incident took place on Thursday at about 9:40 p.m. The Southampton Town Police Department's communications division received a report of an unknown individual inside a private residence in Bridgehampton, causing a disturbance, police said.
Southampton Town Police Department patrol officers responded to the scene. Subsequent investigation determined that an uninvited adult male, identified as a neighbor of the homeowner, had entered the residence while intoxicated, mistakenly believing it to be his home, police said.

When confronted by the homeowner and asked to leave, the man, 32, became aggressive and refused to comply, further alarming the occupants, police said.
He was arrested and charged with second-degree criminal trespass, a misdemeanor, police said.

He was processed at Southampton Town Police Department headquarters and held for morning arraignment, police said.
