LONG ISLAND, NY — After a blizzard socked Long Island last week, residents are hoping for some balmy days ahead.

But there may still be some snow and soggy skies in the days ahead, the National Weather said, in its upcoming forecast for the week:

Monday afternoon

Mostly sunny, with a high near 30. Calm wind.

Monday night

Increasing clouds, with a temperature falling to near 19 by 8 p.m., then rising to around 26 during the remainder of the night. Calm wind.

Tuesday

A slight chance of snow before 10 a.m., then rain. High near 40. Calm wind becoming southeast 5 to 7 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 90 percent. Little or no snow accumulation expected.

Tuesday night

Rain. Low around 36. Light and variable wind. Chance of precipitation is 100 percent. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 45. Light northwest wind.

A 40 percent chance of rain after 1 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 32.
