Man Arrested After Leaving The Scene Of Flanders Crash: Police

The other driver sustained minor injuries, police say.

FLANDERS, NY — A Riverhead man was arrested after a Flanders crash in November, police said.

According to Southampton Town police, Ronal Matutebonilla, 19, was arrested at police headquarters Monday night at 10:44 p.m. after an investigation revealed that he was the driver of a 2004 Honda that was involved in the crash on Flanders Road near Evergreen Road on November 21 at 7:38 p.m.

The driver of the other vehicle involved in the crash sustained minor injuries and was transported to an area hospital for treatment, police said.

Matutebonilla left the scene that night on foot without reporting the incident, police said. He was charged with leaving the scene of an accident with personal injury, a misdemeanor, and open alcohol in a motor vehicle, a violation, police said.

He was processed and released on a field appearance ticket for arraignment at Southampton Town Justice Court on a future date, police said.
