Man Caught Driving With Stolen Property, Suspended License: Police

He also had suspended registration, police say.

FLANDERS, NY — A Shirley man was arrested after he was found to be driving with a suspended license and registration, and with stolen property, during a traffic stop, police said.

According to Southampton Town police, the incident took lace at 3:39 p.m. Saturday. Julio C. Gutierrez-Agosto, 29, was seen driving a motor vehicle with a suspended registration and a defective windshield while heading westbound on Flanders Road in the area of Peconic Avenue, police said.

He was subsequently stopped on W. Main St and Griffing Ave in Riverhead, and was found to be driving with a suspended driver's license, police said. Gutierrez-Agosto was also found to be in possession of stolen property, police said.

Gutierrez-Agosto was arrested and transported to the Southampton Town Police Department headquarters for arrest processing; he was charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, a misdemeanor; third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, a misdemeanor; operating a motor vehicle with a suspended registration, a misdemeanor; and several traffic law violations, police said.

He was released on a desk appearance ticket to appear in Southampton Town Justice Court at a later date, police said.
