Man Caught With Loaded Handgun, Child, 2, in Car: Police

The Flanders man was wanted on a Suffolk County Police Department warrant, police said.

Riverside, NY - A Flanders man was caught with a loaded handgun and a little boy, 2, in a car in Riverside on Monday, police said.

According to Southampton Town Police, the police department's community response unit was conducting patrols in Riverside when an officer saw a motor vehicle occupied by Terrance Latimore, 19.

The officer knew that there was a Suffolk County Police Department warrant for Latimore, police said.

The vehicle was stopped and the officer placed Latimore under arrest for the warrant, police said.

Latimore was found to be in possession of a loaded .32 caliber handgun and a child in the car, police said.

He was charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, a felony, two counts of criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree, a felony, criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree, a misdemeanor, endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor, and two counts of criminal contempt in the second degree, a misdemeanor, police said.

Latimore was processed at Southampton Town Police headquarters and brought to Southampton Town justice court for arraignment, police said.

He was remanded to the Suffolk County Correctional Facility in lieu of $50,000 bail, police said.
