Man Charged With Driving While Impaired By Drugs After Crash: Police

The crash took place in Hampton Bays Wednesday night, police say.

HAMPTON BAYS, NY — A Flanders man was arrested after he was found to be impaired by drugs after a Hampton Bays crash Wednesday night, police said.

According to Southampton Town police, the incident took place at 6:05 p.m. at the intersection of North Road and E. Montauk Highway. David Chinchilla Ramos, 36, was involved in the two-car crash while driving southbound on North Road, police said.

Chinchilla Ramos was interviewed and upon further investigation, was found to be in an impaired condition after using drugs, police said.

He was subsequently arrested, charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs, a misdemeanor, and transported to the Southampton Town Police Department headquarters for arrest processing and held to appear in Southampton Town Justice Court for morning arraignment, police said.
