Man Charged With DWI After Flanders Crash: Police

He was arrested Wednesday night, police say.

FLANDERS, NY — A Flanders man was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated after a crash Wednesday night, police said.

According to Southampton Town police, the incident took place at 7:51 p.m. on Royal Avenue near June Avenue in Flanders when the driver of a 2010 Dodge pickup hit a parked car and left the scene.

Patrol officers were able to locate the Dodge pickup on Royal Avenue; the driver, Julio I. Francisco Diego, 25, was found to be intoxicated, police said. He was arrested at the scene, transported to Southampton Town police headquarters for processing, and charged with misdemeanor driving while intoxicated and several violations of vehicle and traffic law, police said.

He was held overnight for morning arraignment at Southampton Town Justice Court, police said.
