Man Charged With Felony DWI After Southampton Crash: PD
He careened into a utility police, police say.
SOUTHAMPTON, NY — A man was arrested and charged with felony driving while intoxicated after crashing into a utility pole in Southampton, police said.
According to Southampton Town police, the crash took place on Friday at about 5:30 p.m. Patrol units responded to the area of Great Hill Road near Albert Avenue in Southampton after the report of a one-car motor vehicle crash, police said.
Upon arrival, officers found that the driver of a 2016 Honda Sedan had run off the roadway and collided with the utility pole, police said.

Further investigation by officers on scene found that the driver, Carlos G. Farez Lucero, 42 of East Patchogue, was operating in an intoxicated condition, police said.
He was arrested at the scene and then transported to Southampton Town police headquarters for processing, where he was charged with felony DWI and second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, a misdemeanor, police said.

Farez Lucero was held overnight for morning arraignment at Southampton Town Justice Court, police said.
No injuries were reported in the crash, police said.
