Man 'Forcibly' Robbed In Flanders: Police

A Flanders man has been arrested and charged in the robbery, police say.

FLANDERS, NY — A Flanders man was arrested and charged with "forcibly" robbing a backpack containing cash and a tablet Monday night, police said.

Rony Geovanny Bonilla-Morales, 27, of Flanders was arrested and charged with third degree robbery; he was held for morning arraignment at Southampton police headquarters, police said.

According to Southampton Town Police, on Monday at 8:40 p.m., officers responded to a robbery on Maple Avenue in Flanders where a man reported that someone "known to him" forcibly removed his backpack, which contained cash and a tablet.

The man ran after the thief and contacted police; Southampton patrol units and detectives, as well as New York State Police K-9 units, responded and found the robber, police said.
