Man Tried To Sell Undercover Officer Heroin: Police

SOUTHAMPTON, NY — A man was arrested after he contacted an undercover police officer and offered to sell him heroin, police said.

According to Southampton Town Police, on Tuesday, the Suffolk County District Attorney’s East End Drug Task Force arrested Wayne Brown, 29, of Southampton and Mastic on Main Street in Hampton Bays.

During the afternoon, Brown contacted an undercover officer and offered to sell a quantity of heroin, police said.

The East End Drug Task Force subsequently set up a meeting with Brown and, along with uniformed officers from Southampton Town Police, arrested him in a parking lot, police said.

Brown was arrested on an outstanding New York State parole warrant and 3 county court warrants for first degree criminal contempt, harassment and vehicle and traffic violations, police said,

At the time of his arrest Brown was in possession of a quantity of suboxone and heroin; in addition to the outstanding warrants, he was charged with third degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, third degree criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell and seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, police said.

Brown was on parole for a charge of second degree attempted robbery, police said.

He was slated to be arraigned in Southampton Town Justice Court on Wednesday, November 29.

Suffolk County Police Fugitive Squad and New York Parole were notified, police said.

Also, Jeffrey Hodge, 56, drove Brown to meet the undercover officer, and he was charged with four degree criminal facilitation, a misdemeanor, police said.
