Man Wanted On Felony Charges In Suffolk Arrested In Southampton: PD
He was believed to be suicidal and possibly armed, police say.
SOUTHAMPTON, NY — A Holbrook man wanted on felony charges was arrested in Southampton Sunday, police said.
According to Southampton Town Police, Suffolk County Police asked for help looking for Timothy Butler, 46, who was wanted in that jurisdiction, and driving a 2014 Ram pickup truck. Police said Butler was believed to be suicidal and possibly armed.
Several patrol units had been dispatched to look for Butler when the Southampton Town Police Department's emergency communications division received a call about a pickup matching the description that had driven through the gates at Gibson Beach, police said

Officers responded, located the pickup, and confirmed the driver was Butler, police said. Butler did not comply with the officer's requests to exit the vehicle, and believing he would
harm himself, officers deployed less lethal methods to protect Butler, police said.

Butler was transported to a local hospital for treatment, police said. He was arrested and charged in Southampton Town with misdemeanor driving while intoxicated and misdemeanor resisting arrest, a well as possible additional charges, police said.
He will be transferred to the custody of Suffolk County Police, authorities said.
