Man Who Almost Caused LI Crash Was Driving While On Drugs: Police

He was also charged with second-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony, police say.

WATER MILL, NY — A Sag Harbor man was arrested Thursday and charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs after nearly causing a car crash in Water Mill, police said.

According to Southampton Town police, the incident took place at 6:29 p.m. on Montauk Highway; a patrol officer saw a vehicle traveling east in Water Mill and nearly causing the crash.

Patrick Ficorilli, 28, was found to be operating the vehicle under the influence of drugs, arrested, and charged with DWAI drugs, a misdemeanor; second-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony; and numerous traffic infractions, police said.

He was transported to Southampton Town police headquarters for processing and held for morning arraignment, police said.
