New Affordable Housing Lottery Thursday In Southampton

The lottery takes place Thursday at 3 p.m. at Southampton Town Hall.

SOUTHAMPTON, NY — Excitement is mounting as the time draws close for Southampton Town's new lottery for 15 affordable homes, which takes place Thursday.

The homes are to be located at Southampton Pointe, on Village Green Drive off County Road 39 in Southampton; the new condominium townhouses feature two bedrooms and one-and-a-half baths, Southampton Town Supervisor Jay Schneiderman's office said in a release.

Eligible households must meet median income under 2018 to 2019 income levels established by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. The sale price for the homes for people earning 80 percent of the median income is $233,375 and for those earning 120 percent, the price is $350,125, the release said. The homes are being offered through Fairfield Southampton LLC, the Town of Southampton and the Long Island Housing Partnership, the release said.

Applicants had to submit a new lottery intake application to the Long Island Housing Partnership in order to be entered into the lottery. The lottery will establish the ranking number to submit a formal application to LIHP for eligibility to purchase the home.

The public lottery will be held at Southampton Town Hall on Oct. 25 at 3 p.m. Applicants do not have to attend the lottery to be placed on the ranking list.

The Long Island Housing Partnership, a certified HUD counseling agency, is conducting the lottery and application process for the program. For questions about the lottery, contact the Long Island Housing Partnership at 631-435-4710.
