New Ambulance Joins Southampton Village Volunteer Ambulance Fleet

SOUTHAMPTON, NY — Dedicated members of the Southampton Village Volunteer Ambulance company welcomed a new ambulance recently.

Led by Chief Kyle McGuiness, 1st Assistant Chief Chris Epley and 2nd Assistant Chief Colby Gill, the SVVA is comprised of a volunteer staff of 78 full and auxiliary volunteer members, made up of paramedics, EMTs, drivers and helpers, the SVVA said.

"The SVVA has accomplished this by focusing on membership recruitment, top-notch training and member retention efforts," SVVA said. In addition, the SVVA has a paid paramedic always staffing an advance life support first response vehicle.

The SVVA operates three advance life support ambulances.

The new ambulance cost $374,759, with the American Rescue Plan Act covering $339,178.46 of the cost, and Southampton Village, $35,580.54.

"We are very excited this year, since the delivery of a brand-new ambulance to replace one of our old ambulances that has been in use since 2004 has arrived," the SVVA said.
