New Assistant Principal Appointed In Southampton

SOUTHAMPTON, NY — Students will welcome a new assistant principal at Southampton High School this semester.

Irene Navas will be taking over the position, effective August 22, district officials said.

Navas most recently served as coordinator of Native American education, student services and liaison for the Center Moriches School District, a position she'd held since 2014. She joined the Center Moriches School District in 2005, working as a Saturday Academy teacher and an academic invention educator prior to her administrative role.

Superintendent of Schools Dr. Nicholas J. Dyno welcomed Navas: “We are really excited for Ms. Navas to join our high school team. Her years of experience in connecting with students and increasing opportunities for all make her an ideal match for Southampton High School.”

Navas holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in American studies/elementary education from SUNY Old Westbury. She received her Master of Education from Grand Canyon University in Arizona. She also holds an advanced graduate certificate in educational leadership from Stony Brook University, district officials said.
